About this piece

In this late-summer capture from the granite sweep of Olmstead Point, Yosemite’s iconic Half Dome rises like the most overwhelming icon that it actually is in the United States. Almost a feeling of sneaking up on the massive granite figure with its face in the warm setting sun made this one of my most favorite photo trips ever. The fleeting interplay of shadow and light across its weathered face evokes a profound stillness, contrasting against the brooding skies overhead. Framed by the silhouettes of pine and stone, this image reveals the enduring power of the Sierra Nevada's crown jewel.

I release limited edition California fine art prints in small runs of 25. "Sentinel of the Sierras" is available either in Collector's Print (Unframed) on Hannemühle fine art paper, or in Museum Framed Edition on Hannemühle fine art paper, under Acrylic glass and framed with mounting hardware installed. Each will be produced by WhiteWall (Germany), one of the most respected art labs in the world. A Certificate of Authenticity indicating the print number within the edition, and signed bythe Artist, will be provided to each collector.
