About this piece

“Ice on the Falls” was captured on a subfreezing December morning in the Yosemite Valley. This is one of the most photographed icons in the United States, but I set out to capture this through snow and cold because of the wind-blown icing against the wall and the emerging sun from the southeast. I composed for depth and quiet drama, letting black-and-white emphasize structure, luminous ice, and dramatic contrast prevalent in the Sierras with such rich granite formations.

I release limited edition California fine art prints in small runs of 25. "Ice on the Falls" is available either in Collector's Print (Unframed) on Hannemühle fine art paper, or in Museum Framed Edition on Hannemühle fine art paper, under Acrylic glass and framed with mounting hardware installed. Each will be produced by WhiteWall (Germany), one of the most respected art labs in the world. A Certificate of Authenticity indicating the print number within the edition, and signed by the Artist, will be provided to each collector.

Honors - ”Ice on the Falls was selected by Art Limited, Paris, France, for inclusion in their prestigious Visa Feed.
