A slow-moving storm pressed over Sonora Pass, creating one of the most dramatic and forceful scenes I’ve ever seen. I was making a seasonal photo trek along the eastern side of the Sierras during fall colors. I was staying in Bridgeport, California, an easy reach to many very interesting sites in the area. I knew the weather was turning, and I waited until a massive storm approached from the west. My Mamiya 645 medium format film camera with an 150mm Zeiss lens and Kodak Tri-Max 100 film was instrumental in capturing the details, tones and textures of the scene. What drew me wasn’t the drama, but the stillness just before it broke, and I consider this multi-award-winning image one of my favorites. I have it hanging on my wall.
I release limited edition California fine art prints in small runs of 25. "Storm on the Pass" is available either in Collector's Print (Unframed) on Hannemühle fine art paper, or in Museum Framed Edition on Hannemühle fine art paper, under Acrylic glass and framed with mounting hardware installed. Each will be produced by WhiteWall (Germany), one of the most respected art labs in the world. A Certificate of Authenticity indicating the print number within the edition, and signed bythe Artist, will be provided to each collector.
