“Motherhood” was created in late summer on the high granite slopes of Tuolumne Pass in Yosemite National Park, host tosome of the harshest of landscapes in the Sierras. A solitary lodgepole pine rises from the rock, surrounded by younger trees that lean toward the light as if nurtured by their parent. The composition speaks to resilience, survival, and the timeless cycle of renewal in the Sierra Nevada range. The tonal contrast will hopefully draw you into a dialogue between permanence and fragility—stone that has endured for millennia, and trees whose lives persist only through adaptability.
In naming the work “Motherhood,” I sought to honor the strength and continuity that binds generations, both in nature and in human life, reflecting the deep, unspoken connections that sustain life’s existence.
I release limited edition California fine art prints in small runs of 25. "Motherhood" is available either in Collector's Print (Unframed) on Hannemühle fine art paper, or in Museum Framed Edition on Hannemühle fine art paper, under Acrylic glass and framed with mounting hardware installed. Each will be produced by WhiteWall (Germany), one of the most respected art labs in the world. A Certificate of Authenticity indicating the print number within the edition, and signed bythe Artist, will be provided to each collector.
“Motherhood” was selected for exhibition by Carlotta Gallery, Hertfordshire, UK, as part of its international “Dark Frames 2” Online Photography Exhibition, Fall 2025. This recognition underscores the image’s dramatic interplay of light and form, capturing resilience and grace within the stark Sierra landscape. The selection places the work among a curated collection of fine art photography that explores the power of shadow, contrast, and visual storytelling.
